Novell Secure Login

Novell SecureLogin 3.5 provides your users with secure single sign-on. With just one login-a password, biometric scan, proximity card or combination of supported methods-users receive immediate access to all of the business systems they are authorized to use. Novell SecureLogin simplifies the login process, giving your users a secure, easy way to access their applications without having to remember and maintain dozens of passwords.

SOLUTIONS

Solves "password pain" and costs

  • The typical employee is required to remember 8-12 passwords but can usually only remember 3 or 4—eliminate the frustration of forgetting them as well as the security loophole that's created when users write them down.
  • The typical user spends 44 hours a year just logging in to 4 applications. (Gartner Group)
  • Up to 70% of help desk calls are password related. (Gartner Group)

Reduces IT burdens

  • Dramatically reduces the number of password-related help desk calls.
  • When integrated with Novell eDirectory™, you can manage SecureLogin from ConsoleOne, a free Java-based tool that allows you to easily manage identities and passwords from a single point within your network.
  • Built-in SNMP monitoring tracks application logins and performance measurements, with alerts to potential problems on the network.

Secures network resources

  • Uses 168-bit triple DES encryption to secure passwords during transmission and storage.
  • Offers new encrypted-caching that enables remote and disconnected users to enjoy single sign-on functionality.
  • Passwords are protected internally as well as externally: administrators can reset passwords but cannot read them.

In addition, Novell SecureLogin is different from password synchronization tools, where all passwords are forced to be the same—and where a hacker must only guess your simplest password to have access to them all. Unlike these, Novell SecureLogin stores users passwords (they can all be different), and replays them to applications on demand.

Encrypted local caching allows remote and disconnected users to enjoy single sign-on functionality even when they are not connected to the corporate network.

Directory-based access provides better security than traditional single sign-on solutions in which all authentication information is stored in a company-wide proprietary repository that has no advanced directory features (like replication).

Supports all 100% compliant LDAP v3 directories—so you can use it on any LDAP v3-compliant directory in addition to Novell eDirectory.

Platform independence means it can deliver single sign-on functionality to virtually every application and environment, including Windows* 32-bit, Citrix* and Telnet*, standard email clients, IBM* and UNIX* mainframe applications, RADIUS-compliant routers, and more than 30 terminal emulators.
